What is behind the call for TikTok to be banned? If TikTok is privately owned by small investors worldwide, with servers in Texas, Virginia and Singapore, why do House Congress members perpetuate the lie that TikTok makes China a threat to 'national security'? Is 'national security' a metaphor for their own insecurity over legitimate political criticism of US Foreign Policy by intelligent young TikTok users? Do the 254 House members who voted for the TikTok ban think that no one noticed that all 254 also received funding from AIPAC, the American-Israeli PAC propaganda arm of the extreme right wing Netanyahu regime? Really?

Their 'national security' canard is undermined by leaders of the FBI, CIA and DNI, who testified under oath in Congressional hearings that "there is no evidence that TikTok has ever coordinated with the Chinese government", and "the national security threat posed by TikTok is purely hypothetical, that is, "not real". The CEO of TikTok parent company, ByteDance, Shou Zi Chou, repeated this assessment during House testimony, and had to reiterate repeatedly that he is from Singapore, NOT Chinese.

You can tell it’s an election year when US politicians put their spinelessness on public display by relying on good ol’ American racism and anti-Chinese Xenophobia to paint TikTok as a "national security threat”. GOP Congress members fear that TikTok has become a platform for stinging Gen Z and Gen X criticism of the Biden White House for supplying arms to Israel to support it's ongoing genocide in Gaza that has killed over 30,000 Palestinians.

The Privatization of Public Services IS Disaster Capitalism at its Worst: PE firms are the locusts of the "free market" out of control. PE firms are rapidly acquiring physician practices, gaining significant market share in many cities and boosting medical prices in an array of specialties, according to an academic study released Monday. The study focused on PE “roll ups” of physician practices, in which investors buy up several doctor groups in a city, consolidating a significant share of the market which they can use to raise prices. The report found that “PE acquisitions are associated with price increases in 8 of 10 specialties, and that these price increases are particularly high in [metropolitan areas] where a single PE firm controls more than 30% of the market.” The study authors urged federal regulators to more closely examine the effects of PE investments in medical groups.“The vast majority of PE acquisitions in this report took place without federal antitrust scrutiny and with limited state antitrust scrutiny,” the authors wrote. In recent months, antitrust enforcers at the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission have “talked” of applying more scrutiny to private equity acquisitions of physician practices.

“When PE transactions and conduct are focused on short-term gains and aggressive cost-cutting in the health care space, they can lead to disastrous patient outcomes,” Deputy Assistant Attorney General Andrew Forman, said in a speech last year. The question I put to GPT4 is: WHAT IS TO BE DONE?
