Since the mid-60's, when li'l Henry was rocking to the Beatles, Herb Alpert, Benny Goodman & the Getz/Gilberto album, DJ Hankster has kept his ears open for quality sounds. Discovering Dylan's "Blowing In The Wind" at six, his mind was blown & primed for wordplay & meaningful music. As he grew into his prime he found John Prine & Ken Nordine, Miles & Coltrane, Talking Heads & Grateful Dead, Public Enemy & his own private Idaho...He worked in radio & record shops in Chicago & SF before starting his own indie record store the day after Kurt Cobain died (April 10, 1994): Open Mind Music. His calling, a quest to gather the tribes of various genres & cross-pollinate, investigate & celebrate the common threads & unique twines in fine music everywhere.
